At this year’s Detroit auto show, Ford unveiled a refreshed Mustang for the 2018 model year. It was packed with more features and at the time there was a hint the quintessential Pony Car would get more power. Well, now we know the 2018 Mustang gets more horsepower for both the EcoBoost (turbocharged) four-cylinder and the V8 GT, which can now hit 60 mph in under four seconds with the new 10-speed automatic transmission and its Drag Strip mode.

The new Drag Strip mode is one of five new driving modes for the 2018 Mustang. The others are: Normal, Sport, Track and Snow/Wet. The transmission does come with paddle shifters for those who like some manual control.

With the new transmission comes more horsepower and torque. Output for the 5.0-liter V8 is up 25 hp to 460 while torque is up 20 lb-ft to 420. That is five more hp than the Camaro SS. With the new power for the GT comes some love to the EcoBoost four-cylinder. Horsepower is the same 310, but more than 30 lb-ft of torque is added for a total of 350 lb-ft. According to Ford, the EcoBoost will hit 60 in under five seconds.

If you want to get your hands on a 2018 Mustang, you will have to wait until later this year when they hit dealerships this fall. Until then, you can build your dream Mustang online. That’s how we’re spending the rest of our day.
