One of the joyous highlights of the 2017 automotive calendar was The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, held as usual during Monterey Car Week at The Quail Lodge and Golf Club in Carmel, California.

From classic Bugatti’s to the latest concept supercars like the Gunther Werks 400R modified 993 Porsche concept. The 400R is a modern interpretation of Porsche’s last air-cooled 911, the 993. Gunther Werks re-engineered the car from the ground up with carbon fiber panels, 30mm wider fenders, Rothsport 4.0L engine producing over 400-hp and 330-lbft of torque with a 7,800 rpm redline! The Gunther Werks 400R will be for sale starting at $525,000.

Among the many wonders of engineering, the exquisite Infiniti Prototype 9 concept was unveiled for the first time. An Art Deco interpretation of a 1930s racer, the Infiniti Prototype 9 hides inside a 148-hp and 236-lbft of torque electric motor that powers the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission.

The Jaguar XJR-15 on display was one of just 53 XJR-15s ever produced, between 1990 and 1992. A road-legal version of the XJR-9 that would set you back nearly a million dollars at the time, it's powered by a 6.0L V12 and hits 60 mph from a standstill in less than 4 seconds – a rip-roaring feat for an early ‘90s production car. The XJR-15 was the worlds first fully carbon fiber road car!

An F1-inspired four-door hybrid sedan with torque vectoring, the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept offers a ridiculous 805 horsepower from its 4.0-liter V8 and paired electric motor. Word on the street is the production model will be quite close to the concept, which must surely worry Porsche who have had a hold on the market with the Panamera. Truly a special delight for the motorsports connoisseur, The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering should be circled on every motorsport lover’s calendar.
